Delhi’s Fauna & Flora
The trees in Delhi literally act as the ‘green lungs’, providing cleaner and safer air every single day. The magnificent tree-lined avenues, along with the parks and gardens, cater to the ecological as well as aesthetic values of this urban region.
A vegetation survey conducted at Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary documented a total of 237 plant species, comprising 85 tree species, 130 shrub and herb species, 18 grass species, and 4 sedge species. Notable native species characteristic of the Aravalli landscape include Dhau (Anogeissus pendula), Palash (Butea monosperma), Kanthari (Capparis sepiaria), and Jharber (Ziziphus nummularia).
